Abstract [eng] Accelerating pace of life, rapid progress of medical science, perfection of technologies, competition, growing requirements for qualification and responsibility make medics intensely work. Mental health nurses must work with patients that are very specific not only in a sense of disorders clinic or psychopathology, but also by the peculiarities of their emotional, perceptual state and communication. Due to violence and stress suffered at work by the mental health nurses, there is a growing chance of anxiety and depression to appear and it affects the quality of their life. The aim of the research – to analyse the correlation of anxiety and depression suffered at work by the mental health nurses with the quality of life. Methods of the research: 1. Analysis of scientific literature. 2. Quantitative analysis – written questionnaire survey. The survey was performed from 1 June 2021 until 17 September 2021. The participants of the survey were the mental health nurses working in five psychiatric hospitals of Lithuania. The number of respondents was 290. Results of the research. While analysing the level of anxiety among the participants of the survey, it was found that the major part (71,4%) was suffering from weak anxiety, 24,1% - from moderate anxiety, and 4,5% - from moderately strong anxiety. The results of the research showed that the increase of the level of anxiety was not dependent on the experience, workload and nature of work of the participants. It was established during the survey that the most participants had a minimal level of depression. The results of the research showed that the level of depression, as well as anxiety, statistically was greatly dependent on the family status. It was observed that there were more participants with moderate level of depression among those who worked in a day and a night shift (16,7%) and under the mixed schedule (8,2%) than those who worked only in a day shift (1,4%). Conclusions. The research revealed that decrease of physical activity, worse estimation of the general health and greater restriction of activities due to physical issues are related to the increase of the level of depression. The participants of the survey estimated the quality of their life in respect of physical health as good enough – their physical activity was estimated the best and the general health was estimated the worst. The results of the survey showed that the decrease in quality of life of the mental health nurses (women) is related to a higher level of anxiety and a higher level of depression. It was established during the survey that anxiety disimproved all indicators of the quality of life of the participants over 55.
