Abstract [eng] The ischemic stroke (IS) is one of the most topical medical and social problems because of high morbidity and severe residual disability. The main purpose of the nurse is to ensure the patient’s safe, competent, ethical nursing. The nurse’s knowledge about the illness improve the self-nursing of the persons, who are ill with acute ischemic stroke, and are necessary in order to achieve the results of physical independence. The goal of the research – to analyze the change of the independence of the patients, who are ill with acute ischemic stroke. The methods of the research – the retrospective research, made in September, 2015 – November, 2015, the following was used: for the evaluation of disturbance in the everyday life – Barthel index test (BI), for the evaluation of patients’ neurological state before thrombolysis and by time periods after treatment – National Institute of Health Stroke Scale (NIHSS) and for the evaluation of disability level – modified Rankin scale (mRS). The analysis of the medical cases F003 of the patients, treated at hospital, in order to figure out the age, place of residence, illness diagnosis, disabled side, beginning of the early hospital rehabilitation, was made. The sample of the research was 104 patients, who suffered from the acute ischemic stroke; the average age was 72.4±10.4 years.
