Abstract [eng] The purpose of the thesis is to reveal the features of the attitudes of the adolescents’ attitudes towards the gender roles and their relationship with the perceived parents‘ rearing style. To achieve this purpose, the following tasks have been raised: 1) On the basis of the scientific literature, to review differential psycho-sociological problems of men and women, and the influence of parents upon children in this process. 2) To establish and compare peculiarities of attitudes of boys and girls towards the gender roles. 3) To establish and compare the perceived father’s and mother’s rearing style by the boys and girls. 4) To establish the prognostic value of the adolescents’ perceived parental rearing style to the attitudes towards the gender roles. To examine the attitudes towards the gender roles, a Semantic Differential Scale was applied (Ch. Osgood, etc., 1957). To investigate the adolescent’s perceived parental rearing style, the short form of the EMBU (Egna Minnen Beträffande Uppfostran) questionnaire translated into the Lithuanian language and approved by proff. R.Žukauskienė was applied. The consent of one of the authors, Martin Eisemann, was obtained for this investigation. The scope of the investigation comprised of 149 (88 girls and 61 boy) 16–19 year-old students of a Klaipėda school. This investigation helped to establish that the girls value the roles of a FRIEND, BROTHER, DAUGHTER, SISTER, SCHOOLBOY, SCHOOLGIRL, SON AND REAL WOMAN much higher than the boys. With respect to the pairs of the roles REAL MAN–REAL WOMAN, the boys and girls express traditional attitudes: a man is strong and active, and a woman is emotional and gentle. In the evaluation of the pair SCHOOLBOY–SCHOOLGIRL, attitudes of equivalence are revealed. According to the meaning, the boys put the gender roles to the group of masculine and feminine, and the girls group to familial and social. The boys identify themselves with the masculine roles, and the girls with the familial roles. According to the perception of the adolescents, both parents use emotional warmth as the rearing style much more often when girls grow in the family rather than the boys. According to the perception of the boys and girls, the mother uses too much care as the rearing style significantly more often compared to the father, as well as alienation according to the perception of the girls. Emotional warmth of the father and mother as the rearing style, comprehended by the teens, forecast the attitudes towards the roles the MOTHER, FATHER, REAL WOMAN, ME and FRIEND.
