Abstract [eng] The master thesis “Internationalization of small and medium sized enterprises: comparison between Lithuanian and Norwegian small and medium sized enterprises” examined key internationalization theories in the context of small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), as well as main motives and restricting factors to SMEs internationalization. Moreover, it has been presented comparison between internationalization of Lithuanian and Norwegian SMEs and a conceptual model has been drawn. First part of the thesis analyzes and compares three theories of internationalization: the Uppsala model, Network theory, and international entrepreneurship theory. In the second part it has been delivered the main reasons and restricting factors to internationalization. Research methodology has been introduced in the third part. Applying qualitative and quantitative research methods, Hypothesis has been testing. As the result hypothesis was not confirmed. In addition, structured interview was performed with experts in international business, representatives from SMEs and business organizations both in Lithuania and Norway. Questionnaires have been sent to Gazelė enterprises in Lithuania and Norway. Research answers have been systemized and compared with respondent answers in Lithuania and Norway. SWOT analysis has been made. It has been proposed conceptual model for decision-makers in Lithuanian SMEs on internationalization issues. Lastly, conclusions and proposals were drawn. The master thesis consists of four parts: introduction, problematical, theoretical, empirical researches, practical part, conclusions and suggestions, references. Thesis consists of: 87 p. texts without appendixes, 36 pictures, 9 tables, 140 references. Appendixes included.
