The aim of this this research is to examine the relation between the availability of flexible work arrangements (namely, flextime and flexplace) and two organizational outcomes (employee engagement and affective organizational commitment); also, to test whether work-to-family enrichment mediates the relation between the concepts mentioned. Literature review revealed that some of the concepts are well research already (namely, the relation between flextime and commitment) while other were tested for the first time. Analysis of a sample of 232 employed adults showed that availability of flextime and flexplace leads to higher employee engagement and organizational commitment. Also, the empirical research revealed that work-to-family enrichment full mediates between flextime and engagement and commitment and partially mediates between flexplace and the two organizational outcomes. Thus, the availability of flextime and partially flextime seems to enrich employee personal life, which, in turn, results in increase in employee engagement and organizational commitment. |
