Abstract [eng] Death is a process that begins with dying and ends with the death. It is inevitable, and the last step of every person. It not only affects the patient but also his family. The care of such a person needs to focused not only on pain or other regulation of symptoms, but also on the psychological and spiritual aspects of care, to help him remain dignified to the end of life. Every nurse in their work practice will face serious illness and dying in patients, so nurse‘s role in the process of dying is very important. The aim of study - to analyze the nurse's role in the dying process. Methods of study. For a study was selected quantitative survey method. Subjects filled out a questionnaire which consisted of Frommelt'o approach to dying nursing scale, modified by Collet - Lester fear of death and dying scale of the dying person's care needs questionnaire. Also applied statistical data processing and content analysis method. The sample consisted of: 149 nurses. The study was conducted in accordance with ethical principles. The results of the study. Study showed that 83.9 percent of respondents were believers, 82.6 percent had the experience of bereavement and the nursed incurable illnesses, while 77.9 percent had knowledge of the death as a subject. To Respondents most worrying for his death were thought about possible pain while dying (4.3 points out of 5), and thinking about the death of loved ones, the most exciting bereavement (4.6 points). Nurses caring for dying patients experiencing a similar psycho-emotional stress, regardless of gender, education, and religious beliefs. However, the non-believers would not want to take part when the patient dying and often would change the subject, when a patient asks, \"Am I dying?\" than religious nurses. Younger nurses get more discouraged when the dying person stops believing in healing than older nurses. The results confirmed the relationship between nurses' psycho-emotional stress associated with a dying person's nursing, and previous experience working with individuals suffering from incurable diseases. Nurses, that nursed incurable illnesses, emphasized greater psycho-emotional stress, in the care of dying patients (they would prefer not to be near when person dying, and they are more afraid to make friends with a dying person) than nurses who never cared for incurable illnesses people. Conclusions. Nurses work with dying patients is very complex, associated with chronic stress and demands of extreme psychological preparation. Nurses must to ensure high quality care to the dying patient and know how to communicate with patients relatives.
