| Abstract [eng] |
The problem of national identity is of special importance to Lithuanian sociology because in Lithuania notions of "nation" and "ethnic group" have been used interchangeably to indicate a community of common descent. The paper argues that in contemporary societies national identity is being increasingly separated from its ethnic core. It is suggested that reflexivity is at the basis of identity construction. The paper examines so called common sense tradition approach used in identity studies and clarifies its significance. |
