The article presents the change of Catholic worship buildings – churches and chapels – in Telšiai diocese Švėkšna parish from the beginning of the sixteenth century to the beginning of the twenty-first century. The history of construction of four Catholic churches in Švėkšna from the first church built in the first decade of the sixteenth century until the fourth one built in the same place in 1905 is discussed. The article also introduces decentral worship buildings in Švėkšna parish, namely the Chapel of Crucifixion of Jesus in Švėkšna cemetery and the Chapel of Our Lady of Lourdes in Inkakliai, and examines links between St. Aloysius' Church in Stemplės and Švėkšna parish. |
