Abstract [eng] The article analyzes the issue of research in adult education that was launched in 2004. The analysis of the studies revealed the factors that affect adult learning. Learning for adults should be fostered by the motivation phenomenon. The main factors influencing the learning process include: social, economic and the desire to stay in the labour market. An adult’s decision whether to continue learning or not is often a result of the financial status of an individual. Learning also takes place in prison, and everywhere where socialization is counted as a primary agent of education, as, for example, for disabled people, when improving their socialization skills. The need for non-formal education is analyzed. Non- formal education occurs when we talk about learning organizations, professional development, continuing learning. Most employed people are engaged in various training activities. The most popular is continuing vocational training (in-service training). However, the respondents say that the training they have been offered is not always applicable in practice. The study has also revealed that often adult education organizing activities are rather poor, carried out by non-qualified staff. This problem would be solved by preparing professional andragogues, but there is no officially recognized/legitimated professional position, yet.
