Spinal pains become an increasing problem in all groups of age. Latterly we have an increasing number of young school aged people complaining on spinal pains without established diagnosis. The medication treatment or authorized rehabilitation procedures is a common choice in order to reduce pain. Such treatment methods not always yield the desired result and yet we don’t know enough about alternative treatment methods such as Yoga and Qigong. The aim of research work: To evaluate and compare the effectiveness of Yoga and Qigong exercises in in students with back pain Materials and methods: The following measures were used in the performed research: static endurance test of waist muscles (Mac Gill test), waist functional stability test (Matthiass test), the evaluation of pain intensity by means of Visual analogue scale of pain (VAS), The analysis of research data performed using analytical system R and Microsoft Excel 2013. The group of 50 students participated as a survey sample. The survey was performed following ethical principles. Results: Test results in both researched groups (Yoga and Qigong) were evaluated and compared before and after the research. It was found that both Yoga and Qigong exercises have statistically significant effect on the endurance of waist muscles. Waist functional stability had statistically significant change only in Yoga exercised group (p<0,05). Pain intensity in points according Visual analogue scale of pain in both groups decreased in statistically significant value (p<0,05). The average scores of pain decrease in both groups were 1,2 - 1,8 points. Conclusion: Test results on static endurance of waist muscles, waist functional stability and pain intensity had changed in statistically significant value in Yoga exercised group of researched students suffering from spinal pain. Test results in Qigong exercised group had improved only in evaluation of static waist muscles endurance and pain intensity. |
