The number of traffic accident in Klaipėda city and Klaipėda district where people gets injured or dies are increasing every year. Information about these accidents is collected for the purpose of determining the circumstances of the specific accident later at a later stage. Information collected by road police service has spatial attributes, coordinates, street, house number. The data with the coordinates attribute allows to analyze them using spatial statistics methods and GIS systems. There was analyzed Lithuanian and foreign literature papers describing systems and methods using in the analysis of traffic accident trends. The use of GIS technologies in analyzing traffic accidents in other countries is not a new trend, but in Lithuania similar studies are only being launched. The most commonly used methods of spatial statistics, such as kernel density estimation method, nearest neighbor analysis method, Moran’s I index calculation method, Getis-Ord Gi * statistics calculation method has been selected from analyzed literature and described. Data for the research was used collected at 2015-2017 years. There was 889 points of traffic accidents spread throughout all region of Klaipėda. There was discovered that it is possible to use new, modern and fast methods for traffic accident analysis. |
