The Priest Motiejus Valančius (Wolonczwskis), became a bishop in 1850. On 1848 wrote a historical work"Žemajtiu Wiskupiste" ("Samogitian Bishopric"). Referring to the work "Žemajtiu Wiskupiste" the author of the article describes more prominent bishops of the Samogitian bishopric. The ones, who ruled the bishopric from 1417 till 1841. The author compares the works of the described bishops with the bishop Motiejus Valančius and the works of the bishops of Telšiai bishopric Justinas Staugaitis and Antanas Vaičius. |
