This Master thesis analyzes the thematization of national security in lithuanian politicians rhetorics and media. It was chosen to analyze President Dalia Grybauskaitė and Prime Minister Saulius Skvernelis rhetorics and articles of the most popular news website www.delfi.lt about national security. The main goal of this research is to find out wheter thematization of national security in lithuanian politicians rhetorics and media is different and how different. To determine this, it is necessary to accomplish these tasks: review thoery of political communication and analyze problematics of national security; analyze politicians rhetorics in national security; analyze articles in media about national security; compare the thematization of national security in lithuanian politicians rhetorics and media. Methodology of thesis: review of literature, qualitative analysis of the content of politicians rhetoric and media articles about national security, comparison. 1799 politicians press releases were analyzed and 297 of them were about national security and were used in research. Also 1904 media articles were reviewed using key words and 404 articles from them were relevant and used in research. It was determined that hipothesis of the thesis partially failed to prove itself: the thematization of national security in lithuanian politicians rhetorics and media is different, however media does not make up securization in national security topics, but rather gives them a broader context. |
