The Master‘s paper analyses the situation of sports tourism conditions and opportunities in Salantai Regional Park. The aim of this work is to investigate the conditions and opportunities for sports tourism and recreation planning in Salantai Regional Park and to justify the importance of sports tourism territorial areas for the development of tourism services and infrastructure. The research tasks are the following: 1. to evaluate the natural, cultural, an historical conditions of sports tourism development in Salantai regional park; 2. to investigate the infrastructure of sport recreation and identify its elements for the development of sports tourism; 3. to describe the characteristics of human resources in the development of sports tourism; 4. to form territorial territories of sports tourism. Methods used in this work: 1. Comparative analysis – comparison between protected with each other. Also the distance of different types of objects from streets, buildings and other objects is compared. 2. Cartographic method – geographic information systems (GIS) was used to create maps of different themes of Salantai Regional Park. 3. Analysis of scientific literature and articles - this method used for the purpose of analyzing scientific articles related to sports tourism. 4. Monitoring – there were monitoring which was conducted in Salantai Regional Park to collect data on sports areas within the protected area. In the theoretical part presented an overview of previous studies, defined key terms, and methods that have been used in this research. The research found that there are more than 150 natural, cultural and recreational objects in the territory of Salantai Regional Park which have no connection with sport tourism, but at the same time, when these objects are included in certain activities or special thematic routes it represents that the guiding principle of sports tourism is traveling from home to activities. It is also estimated that inter-institutional and local communication has a major positive impact on the development of sports tourism in Salantai Regional Park. Territorial habitats have been created, the uniqueness of which makes it possible to specialize in a particular area, and the shortcomings of the territorial habitats highlighted can be improved in the light of the comments made in the proposals. |
