The article examines important aspects of Lithuanian Riflemen’s Association history, when organization was formed in Kaunas city on 27 June, 1919, by patriotically inclined public servants. Lithuanian Riflemen’s Association at first was a small public organization, but during the fights against Bermondt- Avalov’s troops in autumn, 1919, came under the central control and became an important paramilitary association in the whole territory of Lithuania. Aspects of the riflemen / partisans’ activities against Bermondt-Avalov’s troops are analyzed in this article which draws on unpublished materials from archives. |
