Increasing urban development affects rural areas, especially in suburban areas. A village today is perceived differently - on one hand - as a cleaner, more natural place for vacation fun in farmstead (or at the grandparents if they live in rural areas). On the other hand it is a unattractive place to live permanently, because there is no usual city infrastructure. Even though you can create infrastructure in rural areas today, the socio- cultural environment is not easy to create. This is the task for whole rural community. The article analyzes social phenomenon, when long Soviet period distorted (not only) conception of rural communities, transforming villagers to non-initiative crowd which is under the others will, and also ignorant to the culture provided from the top or externally installed values. At the same time during all XX century and now public library is one of the components of social institutions in rural infrastructure. The purpose of public libraries is to serve the needs of the community. Reshaping the community’s environment, changing needs are the basis for library changes. The investigation dealt with the problem whether it is changing enough, if the library adequately responds to the changing needs of the community. [...]. |
