Abstract [eng] The article deals with the peculiarities of J. Naujalis' ecclesiastical music with emphasis on interaction of the features of 16-17 centuries Renaissance ecclesiastical music, classicism and early romanticism that is prevailing in them. Significant piece of Lithuanian ecclesiastical music is “Missa In Honorem St. Casimiri” of J. Naujalis (1894) for male choir and organ: “Kyrie”, „Gloria in excelsis Deo”, “Credo in unum Deum”, “Sanctus”, „Benedictus”, “Agnus Dei”. Specific traits that are characteristic to the composer’s style show through the Mass: reservedly expressive, cantilenic melodic line (that obeys to the verbal text); short themes that are developed in counterpoint-imitative way, homophonic-harmonic insertions, variety of rhythmic, dynamics and tempos.
