The article analyses the activity of Lithuanian church choirs at the end of the 19th century - the beginning of the 20th century. The object of the research was chosen Lithuanian parish choirs of the Lithuania Roman catholic churches and their activity in the first half of the 20th century. Using different written sources for the first time the nominal list of choirs was made, which turned out to be much bigger than the ones published in the academic history of music so for. The idea is raised that the activity sphere of church choirs was too narrowed, the merits in the national culture were not valued enough. The presented factual material of the church choir induces to look virtually through the fixed evaluation stereotypes in the academic history of music, to form more adequate evaluation of the phenomenon unity. |
