The planning process is one of the most important and complicated processes in a dynamic businesses such as logistics, services, production etc. Scheduling is one of the planning processes which includes several strategic and tactical decision-making tasks. It is a complex process that depends on a number of properties: availability of resources, a flow of product, a change of technology, a change of business need etc. Such changes often lead further changes of the planning and scheduling process and involved information systems. The paper discusses separation of the scheduling logic from the implementation in the final code. The proposed approach is illustrated by providing a real life example, with planning constraints expressed in the business rule language that is understandable to most businesspeople and used by decision-processors designed and integrated into the software code. |
