Purpose of this thesis is to lengthen the hull of research vessel and assess the effect of propulsive qualities to the vessel. Gathered information is analyzed and applied to a mathematical experiment. After evaluating the results of the mathematical experiment, using the Alferiev method, results indicate that the performance characteristics fit well to a real ship charasteristics. According to the same methodology, calculations of extended hulls are performed, the results show a decrease in water resistance, but the calculations of Alferiev mathematical method face the limitations. Therefore, it was decided to conduct an experiment with the FLOW-3D CFD program to determine the hydrodynamic properties of the hull and its influence on the water flow around the vessel. The study focused on the resistance and propulsion properties of different ship extensions. Conclusions on the resistance of ship extensions are presented. |
