The study in this thesis concerns a passion of pride in the literature. In order to reach the aim of the thesis (to find a universal model of pride) there were inspected chronologically, axiologically, stylistically different texts: some fragments of Scripture, the stories of Homeric epos and literary heritage of Juozas Tumas-Vaižgantas were studied, trying to find various models of pride in them. The work is based on semiotics of passions, there was presented a work of Algirdas Julius Greimas and Jacques Fontanille The Semiotics of Passions, their observations were sequently used in the thesis and weighted up. It was determined, that the pathemical macrosequence of pride cannot be universal, it varies depending on cultural environment in which pride manifests itself. Still, it was discovered that there is an elemental nucleus of this passion which includes me-relation and other-relation enveloped by excess. It seems that the analysis of passions and specifically pride is useful in the cultural and social perspectives and so should be continued. |
