Abstract [eng] Failure to observe treatment regimen remains the main challenge in long-term treatment of patients being ill with schizophrenia since it causes relapse and repeated hospitalization. Failure to observe treatment regimen is closely related to the negative – subjective response to antipsychotic drugs which consists of the subjective negative experience related to effects of drugs and attitude to treatment. In order to improve the use of drugs it is necessary to be aware of the most important factors responsible for their non-use, so that to plan any relevant management strategies. Aim of the research: to determine the links of subjective well-being and failure to observe treatment regiment among patients taking antipsychotics. Methodology of the research. A qualitative research was conducted. Instruments used: two standartized questionnaires (MARS - Medication Adherence Rating Scale (Thompson et al., 2000)) and SWN-K (The Subjective Well-Being Under Neuroleptics Scale (Naber, 2001)). Statistical data processing was applied by means of „SPSS 23.0 for Windows“ program packet. The sample consisted of 95 respondents. The research was conducted by following the principles of ethics. Results of the research. It was established that a poorer subjective well-being of the respondents is related to their physical and emotional state and also to a senior age. Physical functioning was rated much worse by women than men. Mental functioning was rated much worse by single respondents. The most frequent reason for failure to observe treatment regimen was forgetfulness. Approximately a half of the respondents at times stopped taking medicine when they felt better or vice versa, when they felt worse. Irresponsible attitude towards the use of the drugs prescribed was among the middle-aged respondents (31-50 years old). Only as much as a half of the respondents tend to observe the treatment regimen. Conclusion. Statistically significant positive link between the rate of drug use and the generalized rate of subjective well-being and all its areas was established, out of which the strongest link is that with the social integration.
