Occupational burnout is a negative, work-related mental condition of individuals, characterized primarily by exhaustion, accompanied by stress, decreased efficiency, decreased motivation, and the development of dysfunctional attitudes and behaviors at work. This psychological condition develops gradually, often unnoticed by the person, due to poor working conditions, lack of feedback, or poorly organized teamwork. The activities of a nurse are related to the health of others, which makes occupational burnout, which can lead to the nurse not taking proper care of patients or rejecting their work due to exhaustion, becoming very risky. Therefore, it is important to identify the causes of occupational burnout, the most commonly used methods of coping with occupational burnout, and the links between occupational burnout coping modalities and sociodemographic data for nurses working in intensive care and anesthesia departments. Research purpose. To identify occupational burnout of nurses working in intensive care and anesthesiology departments. Research methods. In order to analyze the professional burnout of nurses working in intensive care and anesthesiology departments, a quantitative research method was chosen – an online questionnaire. An instrument developed by other authors: Grigaliūnienė and Šafranovič (2018) was chosen for data collection and research. The sample consisted of 210 respondents. The statistical software package SPSS 23.0.0 for Windows was used for data analysis and description. The study was conducted in accordance with ethical principles. Research results. Analyzing the well-being of nurses working in intensive care and anesthesiology after work, it was found that the vast majority of nurses felt both physically (96.7%) and psychologically (88.1%) tired after work. Nurses mostly relaxed by spending time with family (82.9%), listening to music or reading books / magazines (48.1%). Analyzing the opinion of nurses about the effectiveness of methods to reduce stress, fatigue and fatigue, it was found that almost all the respondents think that the most effective activity is engaging in favorite activities (97.6%) and sleeping (96.6%). Conslusion. Occupational burnout of nurses working in intensive care and anesthesiology units is influenced by physical and psychological factors. The methods of coping with professional burnout used by nurses are various forms of rest. |
