Healthcare specialists and patients constantly evaluate healthcare quality. In recent decades, the responsibility and workload of healthcare specialists has been increasing. Professionals of healthcare institutions take more and more extra working tasks and responsibilities in their area of action. In order to ensure service quality and keep competitiveness, institutions set new goals and tasks, change old and ineffective management orders so that to satisfy employee and patients’ increasing needs. During the last decade in Lithuania the processes of quality management systems application in healthcare institutions slowed down. This research focuses on identification of such stagnation reasons in a healthcare institution and inter-connections between quality management system application and psychosocial satisfaction of a healthcare institution personnel. Therefore, the aim of this research is to analyze the psychosocial factors of a healthcare institution specialists in the context of a quality management system. The research was completed in a healthcare institution in western Lithuania where qualified outpatient primary and secondary personal health care services were provided. The research results revealed that employees agree with quality management system in their institution; however, nurses are the weak link, which least participate in the processes of a quality management system. The analysis of psychosocial work factors in the work of healthcare specialists showed that most of the employees are satisfied with their work and up-to-date life. The work is important and meaningful; however, nervously and physically tense. The evaluation of the salary showed dissatisfaction of all the employees. The research also indicates that stress is mostly experienced by nurses; even though, most employees are satisfied with their work. The support and assistance of the head of the institution encourage employees to improve and strive for quality at work. |
