In 19th end–20th beginning century Lithuania Minor was influenced by germanization, and Lithuania Major – by russification. The cultures and languages of foreign people had a negative impact on Lithuanians. In 1879 was established The Lithuanian Literature Society in Tilžė, which was interested in Lithuanian language from the scientific side. The members of society were gathered the literary and historical material about the Lithuanian language and culture. The accumulated information was published in periodical publication The Reports of Lithuanian Literature (german Mitteilungen der Litauischen Literarischen Gesellschaft), which was authorized in 1880–1912. Literary works publications was one of the ways encouraged scientific, literary and cultural rise. The publications revealed the society members scientific, literary and cultural activities. The subject of this Master thesis is to investigate the cultural-literary value of periodical of The Lithuanian Literature Society. The research object is 303 in Lithuanian language printed literary texts. Work tasks – publications of folklore, fiction and psalms analyzing. Research methods – historical-descriptive, bibliography, interpretive. The texts publications analysis of periodical showed that some of the texts were published for the first time. |
