A qualification is an official confirmation or document that an educational program is partially or fully completed. It covers skills, knowledge and competencies. According to the scientific literature and the opinion of the author of the work, the combination of both theoretical and practical skills is important in developing competence in the topic of vascular puncture. There are certainly not enough improvement programs in Lithuania dedicated to the topic of vascular puncture. The results of the study revealed that the duration of in-service training should be extended to ensure advanced nursing practice. Improperly performed vascular puncture also increases the costs incurred (longer number of bed days due to complications) and the quality of services provided (patients become dissatisfied with the services provided). There is a lack of qualifications for nurses on the topic of vascular puncture. Mandating this training would improve the professional skills and knowledge of nurses. Information on qualification improvement courses on the topic under study may be available from a variety of sources. Knowledge sharing and counseling, as well as hands-on training, can be one of the main methods of learning and training to improve the qualifications of nurses in the field of vascular puncture. In order to increase the qualification of nurses on the topic of vascular puncture there is a need to for organizational capacity of the institution to ensure access to such training and the nurses must be motivated to improve their professional qualification. |
