The Master’s thesis analysed theoretical aspects of the creation and development of crypto currencies and performed an analysis of the global market. It was determined how many people own crypto currencies and the possibilities of paying with them have been outlined. Experts’ point of view on the main barrier to entry have been analysed and possibilities to overcome them have been investigated. The first chapter examines the concept, operation, and classification of crypto currencies as well as advantages and threats of crypto currencies. In the second part, the analysis of the crypto currency market, its regulations worldwide & in the Baltic countries is being carried out. The third chapter introduces the research methodology: Research strategy, methods, instruments, subjects (+their selection and characteristics), research progress, ethics, and obstacles. Also outlines market analysis – it is determined how many people own cryptocurrencies and possibilities to pay with them. The experts’ overview on the main barriers preventing Lithuanian businesses from implementing cryptocurrency payment systems and opportunities to overcome them. Conclusion of the study includes outcomes and suggestions. |
