Abstract [eng] |
It is important to assess the ship resistance in the early stages of the design of the ship. This should determine what kind of engine and propulsion should be used and what will be the final weight of the ship. Both values are interdependant. According to the contemporary methodologies weight of the ship can be determined accurately enough already at the early design stage. But there is no methodology allowing to assess the resistance also of the multihull ships in the early stages of the design. According to foreign scholars researh results (carried out on thi paper) it is found that there are a number of methodologies allowing to assess the distance betwee the hulls (clearance and hulls of passing) of the multihull ships with the certain L/B, B/d and δ parameters. However, there is no methodology for the assessment of the catamaran water resistance by changing the characteristics of the hull. Therefore, in order to determine the configuration, which does not fall within the above ranges, these methodologies are unsuitable. Solving these problems the mathematical experiment was started using the program CFD Flow-3D. The experiment showed that the results are not reliable at low speeds. Therefore the work should be continued using different data and the comparable analysis of the results should be made in order to provide an appropriate methodology to assess the influence of the distance between the hulls of multi-ship's water resistance, the initial design stages. |
