Master thesis analyses the interests of United States in Syrian conflict area and suggests certain recommendations. The first part of the thesis evaluates the dominant modern theory of international relations – neorealism, which bases the foreign policy on the need to implement national interests. This part also presents the concept of armed conflict and conflict resolution techniques. The second part analyses the Syrian war: the reasons why the conflict started, the most important military figures and chronologically, broken down into stages, discusses the development of the conflict. The third and final part of the thesis analyses how US interests in the areas of security, energy and geopolitical dominance might potentially influence or deter the United States from any further involvement in the conflict. Master's thesis concludes with a series of the most possible Syrian conflict scenarios with an emphasis on the role of the US in these scenarios. |
