This master thesis deals with the multi-criteria analysis of railway infrastructure development. The thesis consists of the following main parts: an analysis of rail transport in the European Union, an exploratory part, which examines the conceptual alternatives for a part of the Rail Baltica section and the criteria for the evaluation of the rail alternatives, and the selection of the optimal rail line by the chosen calculation method. The first part examines the situation of rail transport in the European Union: the role of rail transport in reducing pollution, the situation of rail infrastructure in the Baltic States, experiences in infrastructure development, multi-criteria analysis of development alternatives and evaluation methods. The second part analyses the conceptual alternatives for the modernisation of the Rail Baltica Poland-Lithuania border and the selection of criteria for the evaluation of alternatives. These criteria were assigned significance by an expert survey. Using the conceptual alternatives and the selected evaluation criteria with the significance values, in the last part the calculations were carried out to select the optimal railway line for further detailing of the engineering infrastructure development concepts. The thesis consists of an introduction, two main parts with sub-sections and chapters, conclusions and a list of references. The volume of the work is 60 p. of text without appendices, 15 illustrations, 21 tables, 43 bibliographic references. Appendices are attached separately. |
