Abstract [eng] Social workers engaging with families encountering difficulties face numerous challenges, among which ethical concerns are paramount. To find effective solutions to these problems, it is crucial to thoroughly investigate this topic. The first part of this work discusses the interaction specifics between social workers and families facing hardships (theoretical analysis), while the second part examines the ethical standards required in working with families. The third section reveals the ethical issues encountered by social workers providing assistance to families in distress, and the methods to address these challenges. The research is conducted using a qualitative method—semi- structured interviews with social workers. The qualitative content analysis has identified that ethical questions arising in practice delve into issues related to the delivery of targeted information, bias, and confidentiality. Social workers face challenges in maintaining respect for dignity and human rights when working with families. Sometimes, it is difficult for them to remain impartial, and they encounter challenges due to differing beliefs, failure to establish connections, overly close relationships, or overprotection. Maintaining confidentiality in the provision of social services is also complex and demands continuous attention and professionalism. Such challenges arise from others' interference (curiosity) and the need for collaboration. For social work to be effective, ethical problems must be addressed, which is often facilitated by the community of colleagues; however, many social workers independently resolve or ignore ethical issues when working with families, and some believe they do not face such problems at all. Reflection on ethical issues occurs only during supervision or case management meetings.
