Abstract [eng] |
Edvard Grieg never orchestrated his Norwegian Dances Op. 35 composition himself, but several orchestral versions created by other musicians exist. The orchestration by Hans Sitt soon became popular and is frequently performed up to these days. Robert Henriques crea ted another version of the composition approximately eight years earlier than Sitt. Although Grieg approved Henriques’s version in his letters, Sitt’s version was ultimately published. The article aims to compare two orchestral versions of Norwegian Dances, their orchestration technique, style, and probable influences. |
