Abstract [eng] |
The paper analyses the position of young photographers in the field of Lithuania’s cultural production with the aim to showcase the prevailing tendencies of their artworks, and to distinguish the most prominent artists in the field. To achieve this aim, the photography degree program, that some higher education institutions offer, is analysed as the main source of young photographers’ education which forms their creative tendencies. Furthermore, a selection of galleries is made and their expositions are explored to determine, through a quantitative analysis, how much the young photographers exposed their works, and which creative work tendencies predominate in them. Finally, cultural and Lithuanian Photographers Association’s publications are overviewed, which allows assessing which positions are young photographers competing for in the field of autonomous art. The assessment also seeks to ascertain, what is the actual role of young photography artists in the said field, which center – a publication or a gallery – do they consider their goal, and what could be seen as the dominant trend in photography. |
