As the demands of public transport is increasing, the current state of infrastructure is no longer able to meet the needs of society thus confronting the need of constant renewal. Public transport optimization and development has positive impact on the popularity of public transport, however it can impact road safety negatively. The Master thesis contains analysis of traffic accidents in Vilnius that occurred in bus lanes implemented in 2013. The data of master’s thesis study covers years of 2009-2017 and shows the impact for the road safety before and after bus lane implementation. The analysis of Lithuanian and foreign scientific literature showed that there is no such a methodology that could be used for this kind of investigation, so the basic methods required further analysis thus letting to construct an advanced investigation method. In addition, analysing the circumstances of the traffic accidents, before and after implementing bus lanes, identified main problems and provided with the modern solutions that are common used in the world practice. Thesis consists of parts: introduction, overview, analysis, experiment, conclusions and suggestions, addition sources. The thesis contain 72 pages text without appendixes, 27 illustrations, 5 tables and 48 bibliographical entries. |
