The focus of this study is set on the technical difficulties of Alfredo Piatti’s twelve caprices op. 25 in development of cello playing. This thesis is divided onto two chapters. The first chapter contains the overview of the biography, compositions and teaching method of Piatti as one of the most influential cellists of the nineteenth century. Chapter two focuses on the analysis and technical difficulties of the twelve caprices op. 25 the analysis of the twelve caprices op. 25 proves to contain the main technical difficulties of 19th century cello repertoir. Due to this fact the caprices are still widely in use today both in concert and pedagogical use. |
