| Abstract [eng] |
In today’s growth-driven world economy affordable, reliable, and sustainable energy supply is needed. Today, and in recent decades, the main source of energy has been fossil fuel, whose resources have been steadily declining over time. For this reason, the technology-driven world is investing heavily in renewable energy, which is environmentally friendly and ensures security of energy supply. In Lithuania, where the demand for heating is quite high, a reliable supply of energy is mandatory. However, Lithuania does not have enough of its own fossil fuel reserves and fuel is imported, so renewable energy is one of the best ways to remain independent. For this reason, the National Energy Independence Strategy until 2030 envisages increasing the usage of renewable energy resources up to 45% of the country's total consumption. Following global trends in the field of energy and seeking to increase the company's energy efficiency for contributing to a climate-neutral economy, further companies’ economical investments would be a step towards the implementation of Lithuania's renewable energy strategy. In this Master’s Thesis, it was established that in order to achieve maximum efficiency, Klaipedos Energija AB should perform the reconstruction of the condensing economizer (the third of the possible scenarios for the modernization of the company's technological line). The total capacity of the proposed reconstruction would reach 10.99 MW, thus the maximum amount of thermal energy would be extracted - 47082.24 MWh. The recovered thermal energy would compensate for the maximum amount of energy produced by fossil fuel, reducing the amount of fuel oil burned per year by about 317 tonnes compared to 2019. |
