Mieczyslaw Weinberg is one of today’s most performed composers. He has written many works of various genres: operas, chamber music, symphonies, various pieces for different instruments and even musical tracks for films and animation. In this master's thesis, the author analyzes one of his most popular chamber music works– 24 preludes for cello solo and their transcription for violin solo, performed by violin virtuoso G. Kremer. Thesis was done in various aspects: Chapter 1 introduces the genre of prelude, transcription, and M. Weinberg’s 24 preludes for cello solo. Chapter 2 – analysis of 24 preludes and their transcription, and 3–analysis of interpretations of three different performers (M. Tarasova, Y. Feigelson and G. Kremer). |
