Abstract [eng] Maria Mirovskaja's PhD project focuses on a sextet for piano and wind instruments - rarely a chamber ensemble - and the pianist's functions and tasks in this ensemble. The piano and wind sextet, with a history dating back over 150 years, is a little-studied subject and a rarely performed genre in concert halls. The research project traces the historical background to the formation of the ensemble and the development of the sextet genre. The research focuses on the piano as part of the sextet ensemble, its role in this heterogeneous ensemble and the tasks that the pianist has to perform. In the exploratory part of the thesis, the author analyses in detail the role of the piano in the three performances of the first movement of Francis Poulenc's Sextet FP. 100. The first appendix of the thesis presents a catalogue of more than 300 sextets compiled by the author, while the second appendix presents the answers to interview questions by composers who have composed sextets, which focuses the thesis on the process of creating this genre.
