There are wide discussions going on in the modern society regarding not only the professional carrier but the personal carrier as well: the possibility of self-realisation in the work and in the family, knowledge deepening and skills improvement, continual learning and pursuit of higher results in all spheres of life. Therefore detailed analysis of women‘s ability to co-ordinate their working activities with the university studies is of great relevance because the university studies are targeted towards the general diverse preparation of the person for acting in the society and to integrally respond to the contemporary challenges raised. The subject of the paper: the coherence between the woman‘s academic studies and the working activities. The aim of the of the paper: analysis of women’ abilities to successfully coordinate their university studies and the working activities as the condition for successful development of their personal carrier. The following objectives are raised in the paper: Analysis of the woman‘s personal carrier conception and the factors stipulating its development in modern society. Analysis of the potential conditions for co-ordination of the university studies and working activities of the woman creating her personal carrier. Research of the opinion of the women coordinating their academic studies with the working activities as it regards the coherence possibilities of the named activities in respect of the personal carrier development. The work consists of the Preface, three Sections, the Conclusions, the Bibliography, the Summaries in Lithuanian language and English Language, and the Annexes. The first section „Space of the personal carrier of the modern woman“ contains a review of the woman‘s carrier historical origin in Lithuania and globally. It is stated that the attitude towards the woman and her mission is conditioned by different culture, traditions and religion of each nation both in ancient times and in nowadays. In-depth analysis is made on the concept of the genders roles in the modern society. Survey of the socio-cultural and the economic factors stipulating the 89 change of woman‘s role in the society as well as the concept of the woman‘s personal carrier in the context of the society changes are done here. The second section „Coherence of the university studies and the working activities as the basis for the woman‘s personal carrier success“ contains a survey on the self-expression potentials for the modern woman, ideas of the continual learning of the working women, as well as needs for the professional readiness and improvement when planning the personal carrier, the co-ordination possibilities between the higher studies and the work of women and the national policy on this issue in Lithuania. The third section „Practical experiences of women‘s ability to co-ordinate the university studies and the work activities: achievements, problems, perspectives“ contains the results of the empirical research that reveals that the women agree on the necessity for the continual learning and improvement for the modern woman pursuing the development of her personal carrier. Most of the women are pursuing the university education with the aim of making their life interesting and full-fledged, and in order to feel safe in respect of their working place and social security in the future. |
