Lithuania is situated in an excellent strategic location (access to the Baltic Sea, the old continent, based on the boarder of Europe ). As a result, Lithuanian carriers look after the biggest part of international freight transit in Europe. It creates perfect conditions for foundation of new logistic centres in Lithuania, in order to ensure the highest quality of freight movement. The model of Klaipeda’s logistic centre would help to ensure even greater amounts of freight shipment, which would not have to be redirected to warehouses, based outside the territory of port, due to lack of space. After calculating and analysing the freight movements of Klaipeda’s logistic centre, warehouse space, the link with transport systems, as well as, performing multi-criteria cargo movement analysis for 2030, it was established that most of freight flow would be generated by Sea Port of Klaipeda. By taking all these numbers into consideration, it would be possible to increase the capacity of the port, to plan the development of the logistic centre itself and to avoid unforeseen obstacles. The Final Master Thesis consists of four main sections, which are explicated in subsections, which help to analyse in detail the perspectives of logistic centre in Klaipeda. General information about logistic centres in Lithuania, analysed freight movements are presented in the paper, as well as, the investigation technique and the links between the terminal and the transport systems / railway. Comprehensive logistic centre and multi-criteria calculations ( space of territory ) were carried out . |
