Abstract [eng] Nowadays our society’s interest in cultural heritage of Soviet occupation is growing. It is time when researchers are coming back to the texts of literature created at the period of totalitarian regime, especially to memoirs, letters and diaries. Texts of paraliterature are approached as Soviet documents which witness the challenges and price of compromises imposed by the regime. Research is stimulated by a wish to understand the process of close past which influence transformation state of the modern culture. Postcolonial criticism which is more and more accepted allows us unlock previously mentioned texts in innovatory manner. V. Kubilius (1926-2004) takes a very important place in criticism and history of the Lithuanian literature. The field of his profession activity covers the second half of the twentieth century. During the totalitarian regime the rebellious romantic position of the literary critic helped him aim for the truth, diffuse nationalism and community spirit. Literature was the only one religion that he sacredly believed in, that he lived and fought for. V. Kubilius left more than twenty monographs and studies, written by the principles of artistic aesthetics and poetics peculiar only to a literature text. This thesis systematically analyzes V. Kubilius’s paraliterature texts and their contexts. By using available material - letters, memoires and diaries – V. Kubilius heroe is shown as a type of romantic heroe who is closely related to historical environment, the origin and nature of the author. As we talk about V. Kubilius diarist and epistolary works, oppositional categories are used and they reveal a dual and rebellious consciousness of the critic.
