The paper deals with a less investigated subject – the life and activities of the first bishop Justinas Staugaitis in Telšiai. By his efforts were developed bishop 's curia, established the theological college, different confessional and social institutions. By his attempt Žemaitija (Samogitia) have regained the former glory of the times of Great samogitian bishop Motiejus Valančius. The Klaipėda prefecture later was switched in Lithuanian Calolic Province under the big care of the first Telšiai bishop. The life and labours of the Lithuanian bishop, politician, the signatory of the February Act for the Independency of Lithuania, Justinas Staugaitis – also is the valuable abandonment and stimulating Standard for the younger generation of the priestes and congregation. |
