Abstract [eng] Problematic region – a single territory which, in accordance with the evaluation criteria selected is different from other neighbouring areas. Problematic region as criteria for the assessment is the level of economic development, the number of innovative firms, corporate profitability, business viability. Thesis problem – Lithuania‘s problematic regions economical activities systemic lack of comparative analysis. Thesis aim – carry out Lithuania‘s problematic regions economic activity comparative analysis. Theoretical thesis part analyses problematic regions and the concept of economic activities in such regions property. Codifies the Lithuanian and foreign authors scholarly works analysed patterns of regional development and regional economic growth factors. In empirical part identified problematic regions, carried out a comparative analysis of their economic activities. According to the results obtained, predicted problematic regions enhancing economic activities. In thesis work identified problematic regions: Alytus, Marijampole, Telsiai, Utena and less problematic Panevezys, Siauliai. Prevailing economic activities by turnover and value added are manufacturing, wholesale and retail trade, repair of motor vehicles, construction, transportation and storage.
