Abstract [eng] Research relevance. Accelerating pace of life, continuous emergence of new professions,accumulation of data/information, to name a few, are presenting with new life challenges affecting career choices. As career development is a continuous process that starts after an individual reaches legal working age, career consultancy and adult education services for career development are very relevant in today‘s world. Research question: what are the characteristics of career guidance services? how andragogue consultants work whilst counselling individuals for further life and career choices? Research subject: the specifics of career guidance and development from andragogy point of view. Purpose: to theoretically analyse and empirically substantiate the peculiarities of career guidance services from andragogy point of view. Research tasks: 1) to analys general characteristics of career guidance and development from andragogy point of view; 2) to understand respondents needs and attitude towards career guidance and development services integrated with adult education for further career development. Hypothesis: the adoption of andragogy approach to adult career counselling/development services boosts the quality and effectiveness of such services. Research methods: theoretical analysis, qualitative research via semi-structured interviews. Conclusion. Career guidance is part of the activities performed by andragogues. An andragogues acts as a coordinator, distributor of relevant information, research, educator, advisor and a motivator in attempt to counsel adults in selecting appropriate education for achieving new career goals, and help adults develop career planning and management competencies. According to the research findings, individuals, undertaking career guidance and development services provided by adragogues, find supportive environment, friendly approach, andragogue’s professionalism, ability to quickly identify solutions to the challenges presented, empathy, patience and open-mindedness are important factors and qualities that andragogue is required to facilitate and possess. In order to maintain high quality of andragogy services, andragogy consultants continue educating themselves through relevant professional courses, peer discussions, collaborations with partners. In addition, andragogue develop and deepen their knowledge in professional fields such as law and psychology, learn foreign languages etc. The activities performed by an andragogy consultant are driven by the needs of the customer.
