The object of the study – development of college lecturers’ competencies from the aspect of students studying motivation. The aim of the study is theoretical analysis and practical disclosure of development of college lecturers‘ competencies in terms of students studying motivation. Scientific problem: which competencies do college lecturers have to influence students' motivation to study? Ambiguous questions: how motivation to learn is determined? What kind of lecturers‘ fields of activities and functions are there and which professional competencies they need? What is meant by the dynamics of studying motivation and the competencies of students learning motivation? How can they be improved? What comprises the conetnt of lecturer‘s competencies in studying motivation? What is students‘ attitude towards lecturers‘ competecncies of studying motivation and their develoment? The main conclusions. The analysis of theoretical assumptions and empirical research suggests that the initial hypothesis (the learning motivation of students in higher educational institutions (college and university) should be based on its support and strengthening during all studies whereas its positive dynamics depends on the lecturers‘ competencies of increasing studying motivation and their application in didactic activity as their development) has proved its worth. The study identified: a) studying motives: in the process of studying the most relevant reasons for students is a wide range of cognitive and social knowledge motives, self-esteem dominates in second place; b) studying motivation / demotivation factors: didactic activity adapted to the group of lecturers, objective assessment of students' studying achievements, a profitable environment for learning; c) the competencies of studying motivation and activities for motivation maintanance: up to 60 percent of research participants mentioned that competence of studying motivation is an ability to make the learning process and didactic activity meaningful; to realize and apply various didactic methods, techniques that match students needs, competencies, personal qualities, the lecturer's ability to provide clear requirements for study activities, learning outcomes, assessment; the development of studying motivation competencies. |
