Various types of containers, their handling equipment, storage possibilities, terminal structure were reviewed in this work. Existing container flows in all Baltic Sea ports and, in particular, Klaipeda port company „Klaipedos Smelte“ have been analyzed, and established when container handling will exceeds 1 mln. TEU limit. Analyzed „Klaipėdos Smelte“ Container Terminal possibilities to handling 1 mln. TEU and more container cargo per year; the total length of quays, required number of quays, number of ships for the 1 mln. TEU per year was calculated. The parameters of the navigation channel (width, depth, rotation pools), the productivity of the loading equipment, the storage possibility was analyzed. Finally, after evaluating all the necessary parameters was found value of automated container terminals, calculated how it will affected container flows. |
