Abstract [eng] The aim of the thesis. To theoretically analyse and empirically reveal the correlations of the development of professionalism and satisfaction with work in the healthcare institution. Research methodology. On November 2019 – February 2020, there had been conducted a quantitative research – a survey in writing. The surveys had been handed out in three Klaipėda city hospitals, questioning the general practice nurses. With the research, it was aimed to determine the correlations of the satisfaction with work and the development of professionalism of the nurses, how and how often do nurses improve their professional qualification. The results of the data analysis of the survey are presented in tables and images. The results of the research. The conducted research revealed that 96 pct. of the people that were questioned improve their qualification. The general practice nurses do not participate in the development of professionalism or participate less than they would want to mostly because the courses must be paid out of their own salary and no time remains due to the heavy workload. It had been determined that the satisfaction of nurses statistically meaningfully correlates with five out of seven most common methods of developing professional qualification. The general practice nurses feel a greater satisfaction with their work when they search for information independently more often, when they consult and share experience with colleagues and feel less satisfaction when they participate in scientific conferences and attend the professional qualification improvement courses. The conclusion. The general practice nurses feel a greater satisfaction with work when they can freely choose the means of raising the professional qualification and are not obliged to participate in self-improvement courses.
