The problem of the usage of psychoactive substances is relevant not only in Lithuania, but in the whole Europe as well. The indicators of the consumption of psychoactive substances among youths that rise every year raise increasingly greater concern. Therefore, it is very important to determine the tendencies of the consumption of psychoactive substances among students and to halt their consumption, because that has a great impact for the further life of the young person. The aim of the research - to determine the extent of prevalence and usage of psychoactive substances among Klaipeda University students. The methodology of the research. On December, 2019 – March, 2020, a quantitative research had been conducted, written survey. The sample was comprised of 352 Klaipėda University students. The research was conducted by adhering to the principles of ethics. The results of the research. In total, 352 Klaipėda University students participated in the research. It had been determined that 47,7 pct. of students are smoking, they usually smoke electronic cigarettes. 84,4 pct. of students consume alcohol, within the last 12 months, they most often consumed beer and cider. 32,4 pct. of students had attempted to use drugs at least once in their life. The most widespread narcotic substance among students is cannabis. Within the last 12 months, it was consumed by 13,1 pct. of students. The consumption of psychoactive substances is mostly encouraged by the desire to relax (73,9 pct.) and to forget problems (71,3 pct.). 56,5 pct. of students are very well informed about the harm of drugs. The conclusion. Smoking and especially the consumption of alcohol is widespread among Klaipėda University students. The spread of usage of prohibited narcotic substances among students is small. |
