Abstract [eng] Modern society, cultural exchanges and modern technologies increase not only the opportunities for access to information, but also the diversity of the range of treatment services. Changes in today's public health, one of the biggest causes of which is constant stress, raise the need to take care of human health in a comprehensive way, focusing on physical, psychological, spiritual health. Therefore, all over the world, the aim is to supplement traditional medicine with new treatments that will help to strengthen the patient's health in a comprehensive way, investigating not only the consequences but also the causes of the disease. The paper presents the origins, specificity and significance of holistic medicine and theater therapy in the application of these methods in the treatment process. Analyzing the literature and research results, it became clear that the need for non-traditional medicine (alternative, complementary, holistic) is constantly growing and can substantially improve human health, the healing process, and general health. It has been shown that theater therapy, as one of the branches of art therapy, can be successfully integrated into the treatment process as a means of self-analysis, awareness and creativity development, fostering community spirit, coping with stress and developing new skills. However, theater therapy as an additional treatment tool is not used in the field of Lithuanian medicine. The work done has shown that the effectiveness of holistic medicine can improve the rehabilitation process and help successful, full integration into society. However, the integration of holistic medicine into the Lithuanian health system, which is based on traditional, medical treatment, is extremely sluggish and this treatment service predominates as a treatment tool of patients' choice. This is due to insufficient funding of state medical institutions, skeptical opinion of doctors about the effectiveness of non-traditional medicine methods and lack of scientific substantiation for health effects.
