Libraries are cultural institutions still operating in the Lithuanian rural areas, so analysis of their activities and especially community services is relevant problem today. These institutions are important and necessary for population of non urbanized areas. The object of the study was chosen Kretinga M. Valančius library network in rural area which by the year 2009 consisted of 19 branches. In previous similar studies Skuodas and Klaipeda district rural branches public libraries were analyzed. Research methods extended, now not only traditional cultural library services are analyzed, but also any other social services provided by library staff to community residents. In addition, according to A. Poviliunas (2008) study the significance of libraries in rural community and community impact to changes of library’s services are analyzed. |
